Event Details

Richard III by William Shakespeare
"And therefore, since I cannot prove a lover To entertain these fair well-spoken days, I am determinèd to prove a villain and hate the idle pleasures of these days."

Considered by some to be Shakespeare’s greatest villain, Richard III ruthlessly murders his way to the English crown betraying family and friends along the way. He was the last king of the House of York and the last of the Plantagenet dynasty. His defeat and death at the Battle of Bosworth Field, the last decisive battle of the Wars of the Roses, marked the end of the Middle Ages in England.

See and hear Shakespeare and his contemporaries in a new light when the Mount Prospect Public Library Foundation brings The Shakespeare Project of Chicago back for a theatrical reading. As there are no sets, props, or costumes, you may find the Project’s readings help you truly experience Shakespeare’s words.
At 7 p.m. an introduction to the play begins. Following the play, a discussion and opportunity to interact with the actors and creative team will further enrich your experience. This program is sponsored by the Mount Prospect Public Library Foundation, which raises funds for special programming and events.
