This October marks the 100-year anniversary of the Volstead Act, otherwise known as Prohibition, which lasted from 1919 to 1933. Mount Prospect Historical Society director Lindsay Rice will discuss what led to the ban on alcohol, how it affected Mount Prospect and surrounding areas, and what led the government to repeal the Volstead Act in 1933. Join us as we explore the juxtaposed worlds of politics, the temperance movement, gangsters, and the quiet village of Prohibition-era Mount Prospect.
