Event Details

The Mount Prospect Public Library Foundation welcomes Barbara Rinella bringing to life Mrs. Grant and Madame Jule by Jennifer Chiaverini. This is the first novel to chronicle the singular relationship between Julia Grant, beloved First Lady and wife of 18th President Ulysses S. Grant, and the courageous woman who was her slave and namesake. It also reveals how love blossomed between President Grant, an Army soldier and serious abolitionist, and Julia, a lovely Southern belle, into a relationship with families on both sides of the Civil War. Come meet Julia Dent Grant and hear her side of this astounding story of love, power, and history.

This performance is a fundraiser for the Mount Prospect Public Library Foundation, which sponsors Library programming and special events. Light refreshments will be served. Tickets are $20 and must be purchased in person at the Registration Desk by 5 p.m. Sunday, September 30. Payment must accompany registration.
