Event Details

Historian Jim Gibbons will be your guide through one of the most catastrophic wars in our nation’s history, World War I, which started in 1914 and which our country entered in 1917. Gibbons will highlight significant events that thrust the United States into this unwanted war, including the assassination of the Archduke Ferdinand, the sinking of the luxury liner Lusitania, and the eventual rise of Adolf Hitler to supreme power leading into World War II. See how new weapons for war – the airplane, the submarine, the aircraft carrier, and the tank – were invented to achieve absolute victory.
